About HopeCentral
HopeCentral is a faith-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit clinic that serves all families in Southeast Seattle regardless of income, status, or belief system. Our mission is to “Share the love of Jesus through excellent, enhanced primary care for the entire community.” HopeCentral provides pediatric primary care, select specialty behavioral health services, and leverages our clinical work to engage in community health programs, primarily focused on developmental disability.
Job Summary
In collaboration with the health care team, assists physicians/providers in the delivery of patient care working within the scope of practice for a Medical Assistant. HopeCentral patient care staff also serve as chaplains, understanding that everyone is made in God’s image, and caring for patients’ integrated physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.
This position is full-time 40 hours per week with health benefits..
Responsibilities
Prepares patients for examination and treatment. Takes and records patient history and vital signs.
Prepares exam and treatment rooms; select, setup and maintain medical supplies and equipment for all examinations and procedures.
Performs functions related to immunization of children as outlined in the AAP Standards of Immunization and as required by the Washington Childhood Vaccine Program.
Performs functions related to phlebotomy.
Prepares and maintains supplies and equipment for treatments, including sterilization.
Chaplaincy
Be attentive and responsive to the spiritual needs of HopeCentral staff and patients.
As appropriate, seek meaningful engagement of patients’ spiritual beliefs and practices in the management of their difficulties.
May transport specimens.
May assist in scheduling patients for tests, initial and follow up appointments.
May maintain patient files, records, and other information including entry of data into electronic medical record.
May provide phone summary of patient to appropriate clinical staff and/or physician.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program is required. An approved educational program/course of study that allows a caregiver to sit for the MA certification exam will be considered (e.g. Associate’s degree in Allied Health).
Experience/Training:
Administration of vaccines to children
Phlebotomy
Minimum of one year experience in a pediatric medical office preferred.
License/Certification
Current national certification for Medical Office Assistant or Medical Assistant, or must receive certification within 12 months from the hire date.
State of Washington Medical Assistant –certified licensure required. (State of Washington Medical Assistant – Interim Certified credential accepted. Caregiver must obtain Medical Assistant-Certified (Non-Interim) credential within 12 months of date of issuance of interim credential by the State of Washington.)

Language ability (Amharic, Spanish, Somali, Vietnamese) preferred
Schedule flexibility preferred
Familiarity with south Seattle and/or cross-cultural experience preferred
Familiarity with desktop computing tools, multi-line phone systems and insurance billing
Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient’s needs
Ability to maintain patient privacy and confidentiality
Ability to collaborate with other multi-disciplinary team members
Proficiency in the use of computer and office equipment
Ability to efficiently manage time and prioritize multiple tasks
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Understand the principles of asepsis.
